The Product
DISC 1000 (U) PDD / BD is the newest member of the DISC Blue Laser product family. The smallest model in the DISC product program is an upgradeable optical 'mini-library' based on the PDD (Professional Disc for Data) and BD (Blu-ray for Data) technology.
Perfect for the archiving needs of small and medium sized enterprises, the DISC 1000 (U) combines a small form factor with high capacity up to 5 TB and attractive pricing and reliability long term data archiving.
The Technology
The current PDD Blue Laser technology with 23 GB per medium is the first generation of a technology evolution. The second Blue Laser generation Blu-ray for Data offers 50 GB per medium (Q1 2006), the roadmap includes 100 GB and 200 GB media capacities.
Blue-ray for Data is set to be the future archive technology and is compatible with the CD/DVD standard formats.
